چکیده

AdaBoost has been verified to be proficient in processing images rapidly while attaining high detection rate in face detection. The speed of AdaBoost in face detection is demonstrated in [1], where the detection can be performed in 15 frames per second. The robust speediness and the high accuracy in tracing the target objects have enable AdaBoost to be successful in classification problems. In this paper, we examine the capability of Adaboost with Haar-like features in detecting text in image. We distinguish text into two categories, i.e. fixed text and variable text, which represent spatially similar and dissimilar objects, respectively. As a reference, we first present a face detector using AdaBoost with Haar-like feature. Next, we apply the same feature set on fixed text detection and variable texts detection. Experimental results show that Haar-like features in AdaBoost is suitable for detecting spatially similar objects such as faces and fixed texts. However, these features are not adequate in detecting spatially dissimilar objects such as variable text.

Learning Object Location Predictors with Boosting and Grammar-Guided Feature Extraction

We present BEAMER: a new spatially exploitative approach to learning object detectors which shows excellent results when applied to the task of detecting objects in greyscale aerial imagery in the presence of ambiguous and noisy data. There are four main contributions used to produce these results. First, we introduce a grammar-guided feature extraction system, enabling the exploration of a ric...

A Boosted Particle Filter: Multitarget Detection and Tracking

The problem of tracking a varying number of non-rigid objects has two major difficulties. First, the observation models and target distributions can be highly non-linear and non-Gaussian. Second, the presence of a large, varying number of objects creates complex interactions with overlap and ambiguities. To surmount these difficulties, we introduce a vision system that is capable of learning, d...

Microstructure and mechanical characteristics of dissimilar aluminium alloy joining employing gas tungsten arc welding

Despite the increased use of aluminium alloys in several industries, their common concern is the difficulty of joining dissimilar alloys using welding techniques. Based on this, the primary purpose of this research is to assess the mechanical characteristics of dissimilar joining of heat-treatable 6061 and non-heat-treatable 5083 aluminium alloys by gas tungsten arc welding and to discover the ...

Regularizing AdaBoost

AdaBoost is an iterative algorithm to constructclassifier ensembles. It quickly achieves high accuracy by focusingon objects that are difficult to classify. Because of this, AdaBoosttends to overfit when subjected to noisy datasets. We observethat this can be partially prevented with the use of validationsets, taken from the same noisy training set. But using less thanth...
